I've been meaning to post some of these curious sitings. Robby occasionally whips out his phone to take a photo of a sign of fines - "No eating, no leaning, no hawking, no littering" all on one sign! It doesn't always occur to me to pull out the phone to take pictures of strangers or weird signs, but I'll try to be more bold and less ashamed of being the stereotypical tourist.
Here is our first month of curiosities. Enjoy!

| Interestingly, the fine for littering is often more than the fine for hawking. We encountered this sign during our first days in Singapore when we stayed in an Airbnb apt. on Orchard Ave. above the Lucky Plaza. People were always surprised to find out that we were staying above Lucky Plaza, a discount mall known for prostitution. We were more impressed by the thousands of Filipina women crowding the mall on Sunday at the wire transfer storefronts & the kind man Simon who gave our kids free candy at the candy store. |

We came across this Dragon Boat Festival Lego Set at a Lego Store. Cool! One of the few culturally relevant products I've seen by a Western company. |
| At Kidz Stop: The kids were terrified of trying this; we had to bribe them with video-game time to convince them to do it. Robby & I tried it as well. He went up 7m, & I went up 5m. It was exhilarating & far less scarier than I had expected. Ingenious idea! |
Also at Kidz Stop: There was a farm section for full of soft padding toddlers. A little big of the Midwest in Asia. This cow mooed when you squeezed its squishy udder. It startled the twins. |
| I didn't quite understand this machine at the mall. It takes photos of you, so that you can post them on Instagram. But why pay for this service if you can post photos from your phone? Maybe it had cool filters. I caught Atticus & Thelo playing around with it, while we rested & changed diapers during some intense window shopping. |
| Popular Bookstore (my first time there): A huge section is devoted to workbooks for K-12 students. Mostly English & Math for primary levels (by grade). Singaporean students are experienced test takers. |
| I discovered these illustrations when I found the bathrooms at our neighborhood mall, & I was immediately transported to the '80s. My parents had a set of these Lao Fu Zi comic books. I couldn't read the Chinese, but I'd read and reread the illustrations. They were published in the '70s, so lots of platform shoes & bell bottoms. |

Mid-summer Autumn Festival staple: the mooncake. I'm not a fan but was surprised by the Oreo mooncakes at the grocery store. |
| I already posted about this Baby Spa. A life preserver around an infant's neck. WTF? |
| I don't know if I'd try this. Western food is not quite the same. |
